With the 2021 AGM being cancelled and postponed due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, attention has now turned to a revised plan that will allow the Community AGM’s to take place.
The Board of Presidents have recently been turning their attention towards when and how the community 2021 AGM’s can take place. If the current state of emergency ends as planned on the 9th of May then an AGM summons will be made to all the level 2 communities in order to hold meetings on the consecutive days of 28th, 29th and 30th of May 2021.
On the days of 19th, 20th and 21st February, the dates that were set for the now cancelled AGM meetings, it’s proposed that an ‘Information Meeting’ is held online instead. These meetings will be used to provide documentation and give owners the chance to discuss information items and raise questions, which will then be added to the Q&A section on the Community Website.
Members of the board are currently preparing a report to present details of the proposed Information Meetings to the rest of the board in their next meeting in the new year.
For many owners having the opportunity to discuss proposed AGM agenda items in a two-way format will be a welcome advancement that can perhaps be implemented in all future community AGMS. in the past, some have criticised the limited time given due to receiving the lengthy AGM information pack so close to meeting dates and having limited opportunity on the day to discuss the points in detail.
In any case, one complaint we often hear is that votes on the day are already outweighed by the proxy votes made by people cannot attend in person so haven’t had any opportunity to raise questions or hear the questions of others. Maybe this time owners will be encouraged to be more engaged and can make a more informed choice with their votes.
