El Berro, The Heart Of The Espunas

El Berro,, the heart of Alhama
El Berro,, the heart of Alhama

We have had a surprising heatwave this week with unexpected summer temps in May, Saturday saw the hottest day we have seen this year with temps soaring up to 30 degrees.

It’s been a busy week with the unexpected arrival of my cousin and her husband who were touring in their caravan and pitched up in the Sierra Espunas. We met them up in El Berro north of Alhama, where they were parked up in the camping site. El Berro is the heart of the Espunas and a base for many of the super walks in the area. We wandered around the narrow streets of the village and had a fabulous Menu Del Dia at the Sierra Espuna cafe at the edge of the village, a great find and thoroughly recommended!

With the really fine weather we hit the beach at Bolnuevo on Saturday, the first time this year we have managed a “beach day” it was incredibly hot and also windy, we had great difficulty at times in holding the sun brolly in the sand. The beach was busy later in the day with large numbers of expats and locals enjoying the rays.

STV have now completed a few penthouse pools refurbs and the completed and refilled pools look sparkling and very inviting, they are now ready to welcome the summer visitors!

Few pictures to finish, wishing you all a great week!
